Verification of Competency (VOC)

Verification of Competency (VOC)

Trainwest is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) available to undertake Verification of Competency (VOC) assessments on behalf of employers, contractors and principals.

Overview

A VOC is an assessment method which may determine whether a person can safely operate a piece of equipment for which they hold the certificate of competency or high risk licence.
Australian and offshore health and safety legislation requires employers to ensure employees are competent in equipment operation and the tasks to be performed.

VOCs are conducted on site during normal operating conditions. The VOC process involves;

  • Step 1 – Challenge testing of underpinning knowledge
  • Step 2 – Observation of Practical performance of work
  • Step 3 – Validation of experience through documentary evidence
  • Step 4 – VOC Documented, a report of results provided to candidate and employer
  • Step 5 – Refresher Training where competency is not achieved

Trainwest can verify competencies on all High Risk Licence competencies. Our VOC’s are derived from Nationally Recognised units of competency, Australian and International Standards, Manufacturer’s Manuals, Legislation and company procedures.

Who Needs VOC Assessments?
